Biomin Selenium is a glycine chelated mineral. they are a subset of amino acid chelates. Glycine is the smallest amino acid and it is often used as a chelating agent. Because of its small size, glycine passes through stomates and also through the cell membrane effectively and more easily thean other larger molecules, thus enhancing plant uptake and making it more bio-available to the plant. Comparatively, other chelates cannot pass through cell membranes as the Biomin products do, due to their large molecular size, only passing through large pores when thestomates are open. Biomin products therefore, have the advantage of being more highly available
Selenium (Se)
- Selenium can increase the tolerance of plants to UV-induced oxidative stress
- Can delay senescence
- Will promote the growth of ageing seedlings
- Has been shown to regulate t he water status of plants under conditions of drought
- Selenium is an essential component of many enzymes that have a wide range of functions
- Criticial as an anti-oxidant
- Protecting against cell damage
